Frequently Asked Questions

+ How much does a session cost?

An individual session: $150 for 50 minutes, $225 for 80 minutes. A couples session: $175 for 50 minutes, $262 for 80 minutes. As of now, I offer a sliding scale for a certain percentage of my clients and people can inquire for availability.

+ Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not accept insurance.

+ What are Sacred Counseling Connections' specialties?

My specialties include Grief, Mindfulness, Couples, Veterans, Trauma, and Men.

+ What should I expect during my first session?

During the first session is the time for both/all of us to become acquainted with each other and see if it feels like a good fit. It will be a time for connecting and beginning to build a relationship. It will be a time when I gather some information around the issue(s).

+ How many sessions will I (or my partner and I) need?

This really varies from person to person and also depends on the issue(s). Counseling is usually not a quick process as it takes time to make lasting changes in our behavior or lives. Because of this, I will usually ask folks to come weekly for the first couple of months while we establish our relationship and then from there we can reassess the frequency.

+ Who does Sacred Connections Counseling work with?

I mostly work with adults, but I will see some teens on occasion.

+ Is your office accessible?

Yes, my office is on the garden (lower) level of my building. There are stairs and an elevator which makes it accessible for most individuals.

+ Are you LGBTQIA+ Friendly/Competent?

I am definitely an ally of the LGTBQIA+ community and continuing to work on being more competent.

+ What is Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Psychology?

Transpersonal Counseling takes the basic Western framework of psychology and applies the scientific rigor to trying to understand altered states of consciousness and spiritual or transcendent experiences. “Transpersonal” literally means going beyond the person or individual. In this way, they are interested in the effect these types of experiences have on people and the possibility of cultivating them.

+ How does Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Psychology differ from other psychologies?

MTCP does not deny nor negate any of the other psychologies. It simply chooses to embrace a wider array of phenomena that have been left out of the other traditions, such as spirituality and transcendent experiences.
